What is the correct order of operations in mathematics?
The order of operations is Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division (from left to right), Addition and Subtraction (from left to right).
Simplify the expression: 3 + 4 × 2.
3 + 4 × 2 = 3 + 8 = 11.
Evaluate: 8 + (3 × 2^2) - 5.
8 + (3 × 2^2) - 5 = 8 + (3 × 4) - 5 = 8 + 12 - 5 = 15.
