I'm afraid he takes after/to his father - his fear of failure/mistakes stopped him from starting out on his own business.

When we were teenagers we were in a band. I thought one day we'd get/make it, but it came to nothing, and we soon drifted apart/got back together.

Although I was brought/raised up in the city, I always wanted to reach/follow in my grandfather's footsteps and work at sea.

Michelle didn't keep/reach the pinnacle of her career through standing still. She worked hard and knew the benefit of rubbing shoulders/falling out with the right people.

As a group, it's so important to make/set manageable targets. That way you're less likely to differ/quarrel with one another when the going gets tough.

They don't really see eye to eye/put up with one another. Both of them are so driven/pushed to succeed - perhaps they are too alike.

We're a really close-knit/immediate family - we overcome any fears/obstacles that get in our way together

We really drifted apart/hit it off when we first met. I admire her get/set up and go attitude.
