Your homework is confusing, and you could use some help. You parent asks, “Anything I can help with?” You say, “No, I got it.” They say, “Okay, just let me know if you do.” You say, “Thanks.”

You’re talking and laughing in the library. The librarian says, “Would you quiet down, please?” You and your friends say, “Yes, sorry.” She walks away. You and your friends burst out laughing and continue talking.

Your homework is confusing, and you could use some help. You parent asks, “Anything I can help with?” You say, “Actually, yes. I don’t really understand how to do this.” They say, “Okay, let’s take a look together.”

You don’t like dinner. You say, “Ugh, I don’t like this!” Your parents say, “I know, have a little then.” You say, “But I can’t! I don’t even like this!” They say, “Well, this is what’s for dinner …” You say, "Why did you make this?"

School is over. You see your parent across the street. You say to the crossing guard, “There is my dad!” They say, “Wait a few moments, there are cars coming.” You nod your head and wait patiently at the corner.

Your grandparent gives you a birthday gift. They ask, “Do you like it?” You reply, “Kind of …” They say, “It doesn’t seem that way.” You say, “Yeah, I don’t like it at all.”

It’s bedtime. You say, “Can I just watch tv for a few more minutes?” Your parent says, “No, it is bedtime. Come on.” You say, “But, I can’t wait to see what happens.” They say, “I know, you can watch more tomorrow.” You turn the tv off.

Your grandparent gives you a birthday gift. They ask, “Do you like it?” You reply, “Yes, how did you know I like this?” They say, “You talk about it all the time.” You reply, “Wow! That is so thoughtful, thank you!” 

You parent is talking on the phone. You tap their arm and say, “Can you help me?” They say, “In a few minutes.” You reply, “No, but it can’t wait!” They ask, “Is it an emergency?” You say, “…no, but I need help right now!”

A classmate is crying after a test. You ask, “What’s wrong?” They say, “I don’t think I did my best.” You say, “I’m sure you did!” They say, “I hope so too!” You reply, “Remember, you can always do better next time!”

Your friends taps you on the arm and says, “Hi! Do you want to play?” You say, “What will we play?” They say, “Tag?” You reply, “That sounds like fun. Can you give me a few minutes though?” They say, “Sure!”

Your parent is talking on the phone. You tap their arm and say, “Can you help me with something?” They say, “In a few minutes, I am still on the phone.” You say, “Okay,” and go finish up your homework.

You had a bad day and you’re sitting in your room alone. Your parent comes in and asks, “Are you okay?” You shrug your shoulders and say, “Yeah ... I’m okay.” They ask, “Are you sure? You don’t seem okay.” You don’t respond.
