A denotation is a word's dictionary definition. A connotation is the feeling a word gives to its listener, usually positive or negative.

Used mostly in nonfiction, a sidebar is information that is included on the side of a page to further explain information found on the page.

An antonym is a word that means the opposite. An antonym for "cool" would be "warm."

A synonym is a word that means the same thing. "Chilly" would be a synonym for "cool."

Example: Bamboo is an invasive plant that originated in Asia.
