When Sarah walked into the house, her mom gasped. There were big, muddy footprints all over the clean kitchen floor. Sarah's shoes were wet, and bits of grass were stuck to her socks. Her mom looked at her with a raised eyebrow.

Emma’s stomach growled loudly as she searched through her backpack. She checked every pocket but couldn't find what she was looking for. With a sigh, she watched her friends unpack their sandwiches and snacks. Emma looked at the clock.

Jason came into the house dripping wet, with water running down his face and clothes sticking to his body. He took off his shoes, and a puddle formed on the floor. Where had Jason been?

Maria’s hands were shaking, and her heart was racing as she stood in front of the class holding her paper. She took a deep breath before starting to speak.

Ava was in a hurry to get ready for school but couldn’t find her left shoe. She searched under her bed, in her closet, and even checked the kitchen. Finally, she yelled, "Spot! Give that back!" She found her shoe.

Jacob ran to his pet bird's cage and noticed the door was wide open. He looked around frantically, checking every corner of the room. Feathers were scattered across the floor, and the window was slightly open.

The dog barked furiously, and the cat hissed, arching its back. The cat’s fur stood on end as it slowly backed away.

Mia woke up and felt something strange in her mouth. She quickly ran to the mirror and saw a gap where her front tooth used to be. Excitedly, she searched under her pillow and found a shiny coin in its place.

Jenny heard a loud crash and ran into the living room. She saw pieces of her mom’s favorite vase on the floor and her cat hiding under the couch with wide eyes. The curtains were swinging as if they had just been moved.

Carlos wrinkled his nose as he entered the kitchen. Smoke was coming from the toaster, and a strong smell filled the room. His mom was waving a dish towel in the air and muttering, "I knew I shouldn’t have left it in so long!"
